- believe, claim, report, say
It + passive + that, np. It is often said that money cannot make us happy.
- know, consider
subject (podmiot) + passive + to do something, np. Black cats are considered to bring bad luck.
- think, know
subject + passive + to have done something, np. She is known to have changed this industry.
- believe, say, think
subject + passive + to be doing something, np. They are said to be supporting many charities.
1. It is believed that the number of local markets across Europe is declining.
2. Local markets are known to have started selling a wider range of products.
3. Local markets are thought to be losing a lot of their trade to supermarkets.
4. In 2012, it was reported that the number of stalls in Portobello Market in London went down by 20% between 2004 and 2009.
5. It is said that these days shoppers don't want to go to outdoor markets on cold, wintry days.
