Working at the Museum of Music by Annabelle Larkin
It’s the summer, but I’m not going on holiday this year. I’m working as a volunteer at the Museum of Music in the centre of my town. I sing and play the piano and I want to be a musician one day, so this job is great for me!
I don’t have to get up early because the museum opens at ten o’clock. I have my lunch at one o’clock and come home at four o’clock. I leave home at nine o’clock and go by bus to the centre and then I go on foot to the museum. It’s in King Street next to the town hall.
I don’t get paid because I’m a volunteer. I’m learning new skills every day. I sometimes sell tickets and I sometimes work in the café as a waiter. The food is very good here. I like eating it for my lunch too! Other times, I work in the shop.
I enjoy meeting new people and talking to them about music. I’m working with John, a student from a different school. He plays the guitar and loves music too. He wants to play in a band. Maybe we can play in the same band.
I love working in the museum every day! It’s hard work, but it’s fun and I never complain. Next year, I want to work here again.
