Przeczytaj tekst, z którego usunięto trzy zdania. Wpisz w każdą lukę (8.1.–8.3.) literę, którą oznaczono brakujące zdanie (A–D), tak aby otrzymać spójny i logiczny tekst.
Uwaga! Jedno zdanie zostało podane dodatkowo i nie pasuje do żadnej luki.   A LIBRARY BOOK NOT RETURNED FOR 221 YEARS!
On 5 October 1789, George Washington, the first president of the United States of America,
borrowed two books from a library in Manhattan. 8.1. _____ Instead, the librarian simply
wrote “President” next to the names of the books to show who was taking them out.
Over two centuries later, the librarians checked all the books they had in the library.
8.2. _____ In theory, the fine* for not returning a book for more than 221 years would be
$300,000! “We do not want any money. However, we would be very happy to get the missing
book back,” explained the head librarian Mark Bartlett.
After staff at Mount Vernon, Washington’s former home in Virginia, learned of the situation,
they looked for the book in their collection, but couldn’t find it. 8.3. _____ It was “returned” to
the library by Mount Vernon staff at a ceremony on 19 May 2010.
