A SMALL ACT OF KINDNESS
Kate had been walking in the park when she noticed a man sitting on a bench looking very sad. 4.1. ____ She asked the man if everything was fine. The man told her that he had just lost his job and wasn’t sure how he would pay his bills. Kate listened to him for a while, offering words of encouragement. She didn’t have much money, but she could see that he needed help.
4.2. ____ She went to a nearby café and ordered a sandwich and a coffee for him. She didn’t expect anything in return, but she hoped the small act would make his day better. When she arrived, she handed him the food and wished him the best of luck.
As she was about to leave, the man stopped her. 4.3. ____ Kate smiled and left, feeling pleased that she had done something good for someone else.
A few weeks later, Kate was walking down the street when she noticed a familiar face in a coffee shop. The same man was sitting at a table with a large smile on his face. 4.4. ____ He handed her an envelope with a note inside and a thank you card. The man explained that he had found a new job and that he had been able to pay off his debts. Kate felt proud of her small act of kindness.
