Uwaga! 

Używamy strony biernej, gdy chcemy skupić się na czynności, a nie jej wykonawcy, bądź kiedy nie wiemy, kto ją spowodował. Tworzymy ją za pomocą odpowiedniej formy czasownika be oraz past participle (czasownik regularny z końcówką -ed lub III forma czasownika z tabeli czasowników nieregularnych):

• present simple: am/is/are + past participle
• present continuous: am/is/are + being+ past participle
• past simple: was/were + past participle
• past continuous: was/were + being + past participle
• present perfect: has/have + been + past participle
• past perfect: had + been + past participle
• modal verb: czasownik modalny + be + past participle
• konstrukcja be going to: be going to + be + past participle

Aby wspomnieć o konkretnym wykonawcy czynności, używamy przyimka by: The painting was painted by Picasso. (Ten obraz został namalowany przez Picasso.)
