Czasu past continuous używamy, kiedy mówimy o czynnościach trwających w określonym momencie w przeszłości. 

Twierdzenie:

I/he/she/it + was + czasownik z końcówką -ing

we/you/they + were + czasownik z końcówką -ing

Przeczenie:

I/he/she/it + was not (wasn't) + czasownik z końcówką -ing

we/you/they + were not (weren't) + czasownik z końcówką -ing

Pytanie:

Was + I/he/she/it + czasownik z końcówką -ing?

Were we/you/they + czasownik z końcówką -ing?

When I went to Prague last year, I was planning to visit
historic buildings and I did. But I was not expecting to see
a historic lift. This unusual lift was running nonstop! It also
didn’t have doors! People stepped into the lift as it was
moving up or down. I was thinking how unsafe it was
when the tour guide told us the name. It’s called
a paternoster after a prayer that people said as they rode
it. People prayed because the lift was dangerous. The
guide explained that the lift was working like a Ferris
wheel, moving people up and down in a circle. The
important thing about riding the paternoster was making
sure that you got off before it reached the top and turned
over to go back down.
