In terms of technology, there weren't any computers yet, but there were: television, video recorders, passenger planes, credit cards and solar batteries.

When it comes to fashion, in the 50s people started wearing more elaborate outfits that before, when fabrics were in short supplies. Men wore rather formal outfits: pant suits and collared shirts. Pants became baggier and suits were available in more colours. Women's clothing included colourful, poofy dresses with fabulous collars. Women wore different clothes for different occasions and the variety of fabrics was much greater: leather, wool, nylon, taffeta etc.

One of the most popular genres of music at the time was rock and roll performed by the famous Elvis Presley. Other musicians of the 50s were: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra etc.

In the fifties air travel became more available and popular but cars were an every-day means of transport.

The 1950s were boomer years. There was the economy boom, and everywhere people were feeling the need for family and security after many years of the war. That was the time when people were staring more families and there was a boom in different spheres of life: a marriage boom, birth rate boom, and housing boom.

Schools prepared children for having families and girls were encouraged to find a good husband and stay at home. People had a few friends but they were close to them. And when a girl was asked on a date she had to ask her parents' permission.

Kobiety nosiły różne ubrania na różne okazje, a różnorodność tkanin była znacznie większa: skóra, wełna, nylon, tafta itp.

Szkoły przygotowywały dzieci do posiadania rodzin, a dziewczyny zachęcano do znalezienia dobrego męża i pozostania w domu. Ludzie mieli kilku przyjaciół, ale byli z nimi blisko. A kiedy dziewczyna była zapraszana na randkę, musiała zapytać o zgodę rodziców.

When it comes to fashion, in the 60s people stared wearing more casual clothes and this was the decade when the mini skirt gained popularity. It was the time of Space Age fashion, so many clothes were inspired by the Moon landing. 1960s was the time when the hippie culture started, so in fashion you could see lots of flowery patterns and flared jeans and trousers.

One of the most popular genres of music at the time was rock and roll and rock performed by the Beatles. Other musicians of the 60s were: The Beach Boys, the Doors, the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix etc. 1969 was the year when the famous Woodstock Festival took place.

In the sixties air travel became even more available and popular but cars were an every-day means of transport.

The 1960s were the years of rebellious teenagers. People had lots of friends and were more open-minded to other people and cultures.
