We form regular comparative forms by adding '-er' suffix to short adjectives and dropping 'y' and 'e' if adjective ends on that vowel or doubling a consonant like 'g', 'n' or 't'. Regular superlative form is made by adding article 'the' and '-est' suffix instead of '-er'.

Irregular comparative and superlative forms are very different from normal adjective forms so they have to be learnt by heart.

Adjectives longer than 2 syllables form comparatives and superlatives by adding 'more' and 'the most'.
